Nutrition Coaching Fundamentals: self guided course lessons with Luke Tremblay
Jun 24, 2020Last week I sat down with Luke Tremblay, a recent graduate of the polyhealth Nutrition Coaching Fundamentals self-guided course.
Luke is an international level Powerlifter and personal trainer - I was so PUMPED for him to take the self-guided course because I knew the investment would take him to the next level, both in his business and personally. He was able to use some down time during the COVID-19 shutdown to complete the course and is seeing immediate benefits with his clients. He also used the course content for some small tweaks in his own nutrition taking him to world-record levels of strength (I won't take full credit here because I didn't actually lift the weight, but I feel at least partially responsible hah).
This course was created to take people with a basic understanding of nutrition and human performance and give them the tools and strategies they need to run a fully functioning nutrition coaching business.
Check out the interview attached to hear Luke's experience in the course. Here is what I took away from his involvement.
1) Practicality: most courses make you jump through hoops - memorizing and completing tasks that you will soon forget and never use. Luke was able to work through the lectures and focus on the learning objectives and activities to enhance his learning
He is actually using some of the stuff he created - like client check-in and intake forms. So cool!
2) Small incremental steps: most of the people you work won't need a complete overhaul of their nutrition. They need to find ways to make small incremental improvements that make a big difference over time. This is tough to navigate though if you don't have the tools and strategies in place to help them make these changes.
No need to be perfect, but those "small changes add up to big changes and ultimately result in success".
3) Make the investment: investing in education can be tough. But just like your clients, if you want to improve, and take the guesswork out of the process, you need to invest in yourself.
Learn from professionals and then you can spend your time actually coaching people and improving your craft.
Thanks so much for spending the time to talk about your experience, Luke. Really looking forward to watching you grow your business as a coach and improve as an athlete.
If you want to get into contact with Luke and ask him more about his experience, feel free to e-mail him at [email protected].
